No Doubt, Spiritual Warfare
There is an enemy who seeks to devour and destroy. But do we walk that way and pray that way? Is that a reality to us ahead of our struggles and trials? It’s helpful to call things what they are. I think it was Pat Benatar who sang “Love is a battlefield.” Yes, I went there. Are you prepared for battle? Today is the perfect day to start preparations. And where do you START? What must you start doing? Well, you tell me friends. What have you wanted to do or needed to do that you put off during Covid or maybe you’ve put it off for years now? God guides us in the fight and prods us as we abide or remain in Him!!
For me, it’s writing and expressing how God is moving in and around me and my life. He is so real and to many they just don’t have or know the peace and goodness of God. So let’s start today. It’s the perfect day to begin afresh and anew.
Setbacks are the starting line for comebacks!!
There will be many setbacks for all of us. Setbacks are the starting line for comebacks!! Amen? My excuses and many reasons to not start just don’t hold up. We do what we really want to do and we put time into those things that are often comfortable to us and easy. I dare you and me to do the hard things today and then again tomorrow. It’s time to stretch and it’s time to overcome. And yes it’s a battle. Spiritual warfare is so real. Recognize your battles and allow God to fight them. Lean on God. Trust God. Talk to God. Listen to God. God is all about handling the hard things. He is our refuge and our rescue. He is our defender and our power. You don’t go this alone friends. Check this verse out!
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12 ESV)
10 Tips for Spiritual Warfare
Here are 10 short tips for spiritual warfare, drawn from the Bible:
- Be Strong in the Lord: Trust in God’s power, not your own. “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10)
- Wear the Full Armor of God: Equip yourself spiritually with truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, and God’s Word. “Put on the full armor of God.” (Ephesians 6:11)
- Pray Always: Constant, persistent prayer is key in spiritual battles. “Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers.” (Ephesians 6:18)
- Resist the Devil: Stand firm against temptations and evil influences. “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
- Stand on God’s Word: The Bible is your weapon against the enemy’s lies. “Take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” (Ephesians 6:17)
- Be Watchful: Stay alert to the enemy’s tactics and be vigilant. “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around.” (1 Peter 5:8)
- Have Faith: Use faith as a shield against attacks on your mind and spirit. “Take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.” (Ephesians 6:16)
- Declare the Name of Jesus: The name of Jesus holds power over the enemy. “At the name of Jesus every knee should bow.” (Philippians 2:10)
- Overcome by the Blood of Christ: Rely on Christ’s sacrifice for victory. “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb.” (Revelation 12:11)
- Submit to God: Spiritual victory comes through surrendering to God’s will. “Submit yourselves, then, to God.” (James 4:7)
These principles help believers stay spiritually fortified against opposition.
I always think of the enemy as a prowler lurking and seeking opportunities to destroy. 1 Peter 5:8 says “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” So, if that’s real to you and me then we absolutely don’t wish to be devoured. Moreso, we don’t want our families, our children, our friends to be devoured!! That’s not happening is what we say but when we do the easy and the comfortable then we are not in the fight and the enemy takes his shots at us and those we love. So, dare to do the hard and start now. God will make a way and He is with us!! Go God. I’m in.
