What noise is drowning out God’s voice in my life?

“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” – John 10:27

Have I filled every quiet moment with something?

“Be still, and know that I am God.” – Psalm 46:10

Is my attention shaped more by headlines and scrolls than by Scripture and prayer?

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” – Romans 12:2

KEY POINTS TO PONDER: Be aware of the noise you regularly run to.

The Noise is Real

The battle isn’t always obvious. Sometimes, it’s just… loud.
Not always in volume, but in distraction.

The noise isn’t just around us.
It is us—scrolling, striving, refreshing, responding.
Notifications. Criticism. Comparison.
The endless, invisible pressure to be “okay,” “productive,” “spiritual,” and somehow “enough.”

And in all of it, something happens.
Our souls—wired for quiet connection with God—start to forget what His voice sounds like.

Faith in the Age of Noise

We were never meant to live with this much input.

You know it. I know it.

One minute we’re reading the Bible…
The next? A text. An email. A scroll through someone’s highlight reel.
And just like that, our hearts feel miles from God.

Here’s the thing:
It’s not always sin that derails our faith.
Sometimes, it’s just noise.

Too many voices.
Too many opinions.
Too many “shoulds.”
And they drown out the most important call of all:

“Come to Me…” — Matthew 11:28

The Noise Inside

It’s not just out there.

Some of the loudest, most exhausting noise is the chatter in our own minds:

  • “You’re not doing enough.”

  • “You should be over this by now.”

  • “You’re too broken to be used.”

  • “God’s probably disappointed in you.”

These aren’t just thoughts. They’re lies.
And the enemy loves them—because they keep us distracted from the One Voice that brings life.

What the Noise is Stealing

It’s not just your time.

It’s your focus.
Your rest.
Your sense of peace.
Your ability to hear God’s whisper through the static.

“My sheep hear my voice…” — John 10:27

But how can we hear Him—if we never stop to listen?

What Can We Do?

We can’t eliminate all the noise.
But we can create sacred space within it.

  • Mornings without phones.

  • Five minutes of silent prayer. No words—just presence.

  • Scripture before screens.

  • A Sabbath from the scroll.

  • Bringing our questions to God—not TikTok.

And mostly?
We return to this invitation:

“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10

Stillness isn’t laziness.
It’s warfare.
It’s how we tune back in.

The Invitation

The noise isn’t going away.
The world won’t suddenly grow quiet.

But you can.
You can choose—right now—to listen again for the One Voice that never stopped speaking.

Because in the middle of the chaos, Jesus still whispers:

“I’m still here. And I’ve still got you.”
